Navigate London with Ease During April 2026 RMT Tube Strikes
RMT members have voted to stage further tube walk-outs after talks in February. Progress in March paused some action. But planned strikes will resume in April, May and June.

The union has scheduled six strike occasions across 12 dates. Each strike window runs from midday to 11.59am the following day.
- April 21-22 (12pm to 11.59am)
- April 23-24 (12pm to 11.59am)
- May 19-20 (12pm to 11.59am)
- May 21-22 (12pm to 11.59am)
- June 16-17 (12pm to 11.59am)
- June 18-19 (12pm to 11.59am)
Which services will be affected
All Underground lines will see disruption, reduced services and crowding. TfL expects significant impacts across the network.
- No service expected on the Piccadilly line.
- No service expected on the Circle line.
- Metropolitan line closed between Baker Street and Aldgate.
- Central line closed between White City and Liverpool Street.
The Elizabeth line is separate from the Underground. It is expected to run as normal.
Overground and other lines
Overground routes are largely scheduled to operate. Certain named lines are expected to run through the period.
- Lioness, Weaver, Liberty, Mildmay and Suffragette lines to operate as usual.
- Windrush line may face disruption on Thursday due to action by signallers and telecom staff.
Alternatives and practical tips
Overground, DLR, the Elizabeth line and most buses should run normally. Expect much higher passenger numbers on these services.
Use TfL’s journey planner before travel. E-bike hire schemes such as Lime and Forest are popular alternatives.
Bus strikes and local impacts
There is also a bus strike affecting east London on Friday. Passengers should check routes before travelling.
- Affected routes include 8, 25, 205, 425, N8, N25 and N205.
Reaching key rail hubs
Stations serving long-distance and international trains will remain open. Plan onward travel in advance.
- King’s Cross‑St Pancras: use Thameslink services or the Elizabeth line to Farringdon, then Thameslink.
- Paddington: reachable via the Elizabeth line.
- Euston: walkable from King’s Cross, St Pancras and Tottenham Court Road (Elizabeth line).
- Victoria: buses provide the most direct access. Check TfL for route details.
Airport travel during the strikes
Access to Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted will be hit particularly hard. Passengers should allow extra time.
- The Circle line closure affects Victoria for the Gatwick Express and Liverpool Street for the Stansted Express.
- The Piccadilly line suspension disrupts direct links to Heathrow.
- The Central line closure between White City and Liverpool Street limits Stansted access.
