NBC News Launches Christine Romans’ New Streaming Show
Filmogaz.com reports that NBC News is expanding its streaming service NBC News Now. The network will grow its live daily coverage to 14 hours per day.
The changes were announced in a staff note Wednesday. The memo came from Rebecca Blumenstein and executive vice president Janelle Rodriguez.
New role for Christine Romans
NBC News will elevate Christine Romans to chief business correspondent. She will also anchor a two-hour program on the streaming service.
The new streaming show will air weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon. It is scheduled to begin this summer, shortly after trading opens.
Romans joined NBC from CNN in 2023. At CNN she co-anchored the morning show Early Start.
Why the network chose Romans
Network leaders cited her background in business reporting. They highlighted her work on inflation, government shutdowns, and global economic fallout from war.
- She has interviewed leading CEOs and industry voices.
- Executives said she brings clarity to fast-moving stories.
Studio move and broader strategy
NBC News Now will move into a dedicated studio at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The space is Studio 3A, previously used by MSNBC.
MSNBC has been rebranded as MS NOW. MS NOW relocated its New York studios to a building near Times Square.
With MS NOW split from NBC, NBC News is positioning its streaming service as a higher priority. The aim is to reach viewers beyond limited broadcast windows.
Subscription and management priorities
The network also introduced a subscription option. The bundle pairs free news access with exclusive content.
Executives tied the expansion to Cesar Conde’s priorities since he took over the NBC News Group. The push reflects a broader shift toward streaming-first news delivery.
