Transfer Details and Background
This transfer marks George’s third school, all within the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). He initially began his collegiate career at Georgia Tech, where he spent two years before joining Syracuse.
Syracuse’s Roster Changes
George is among seven players from Syracuse’s roster for the upcoming 2025-26 season who have entered the NCAA transfer portal. He is also the first to secure a new destination.
- Donnie Freeman – Starting forward and leading scorer
- Tyler Betsey – Reserve forward
- Akir Souare – Reserve center
- Luke Fennell – Freshman guard
- Tiefing Diawara – Redshirt center
- Aaron Womack – Freshman guard, redshirted last season
Impact of Coaching Changes
Syracuse is undergoing significant roster transformations following a coaching change. Adrian Autry was let go after his third season as head coach.
Gerry McNamara, a former Syracuse star, was recently hired to lead the program. He previously served as head coach at Siena for two years. McNamara has already brought in three players via the transfer portal:
- Gavin Doty – Transferred from Siena
- Tasman Goodrick – Transferred from Siena
- Garwey Dual – Former guard from McNeese

Retention of Current Players
Despite the departures, Syracuse has managed to retain some key players. Sadiq White and Kiyan Anthony will continue with the team. Additionally, McNamara has recruited Mark Morano Mahmutovic, a 6-7 forward from Slovenia, to bolster the roster.
As Syracuse navigates these changes, fans will be watching George’s development at Pittsburgh and how the new coaching staff will shape the future of the program.
