Gunshots in Brinnington Lead to Six Arrests

Gunshots were reported in Brinnington on Thursday morning, prompting an immediate police response. Officers attended a street off Lapwing Lane after calls at 10.40am.

Incident details

The discharge was reported at Dent Close on 9 April 2026. No one was hurt during the incident.

Police opened an investigation and cordoned the area. Residents were urged to stay clear while enquiries continued.

Arrests and searches

Initial enquiries led to the arrest of five men. They are aged between 17 and 45 and were held on suspicion of affray.

Those five have since been released on bail pending further investigation.

Further action

Officers executed three search warrants in the Stockport area in the early hours of Saturday 11 April. A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and remains in custody.

The wider response means the probe has now resulted in six arrests.

Detective Sergeant Kirsty Pierce of Stockport CID said investigators believe the incident to be isolated. She acknowledged community concern and asked for public assistance.
