Jeff Goldblum Reveals His Career’s Greatest Line: “It’s Tough to Choose”

Jeff Goldblum has appeared in roughly 150 films and television shows across six decades. His screen career began in 1974.

He says picking one defining moment is difficult. “It’s tough to choose,” he told interviewers in April 2026.

The laugh that stands out

Goldblum singled out a moment from Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster. He named his laugh in the early helicopter scene as his favourite.

The scene features Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Richard Attenborough. Goldblum’s character Ian Malcolm asks, “So you two… dig up dinosaurs?” Neill answers, “We try to.” The actor then launches into an extended, feline-like laugh.

Jurassic Park and its continuing impact

Jurassic Park held the record as the highest-grossing film for many years. Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm became one of the movie’s most memorable figures.

The character survives the original story. Goldblum returned in The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), and Jurassic World: Dominion (2022).

Mementos and personal ties

He still owns a velociraptor model used during production. The prop is signed by Spielberg and displayed in his home.

Goldblum and Laura Dern also had a romantic relationship for a couple of years after filming.

Recent films and future projects

He spent recent years working on the large-scale Wicked films released in 2024 and 2025. The two releases together grossed $1.3 billion at the box office.

Goldblum is attached to The Liar, an adaptation of Stephen Fry’s semi-autobiographical novel. The story follows a public schoolboy who fakes his way into Britain’s intelligence elite.

Music and other pursuits

Outside acting, Goldblum has kept an active music career. He released three jazz albums over the past six years and toured worldwide with the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.

Even after a long, varied career, Jeff Goldblum still finds it hard to single out his greatest line. The laugh in that helicopter scene remains his chosen memory.
