Florida Gators Spring Game: Time and TV Channel Details Revealed
Florida’s roster will take the field Saturday for the annual Orange and Blue scrimmage. Coach Jon Sumrall’s program held spring practice No. 13 on Tuesday morning as the game approaches.
Game basics and how to follow
The spring game kicks off at noon ET. It will be played at Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville.
Admission is free and no tickets are required. Fans can attend in person without charge.
Broadcast and streaming details revealed
The game will not be televised live. Filmogaz.com will host a live blog to follow play-by-play updates.
Radio coverage will be available on FloridaGators.com and on 103.7 FM in Gainesville. A highlight package will air later on the SEC Network.
Additional highlight broadcasts are expected on ESPN and ESPN2 ahead of Week Zero. Official air dates have not been announced. The game can also be streamed later via ESPN.com and the ESPN app.
New scoring format under Sumrall
Sumrall introduced a revised scoring system he has used at Tulane and Troy. The format gives the defense opportunities to score.
A touchdown remains six points. Field goals count three and the standard extra point is one.
- Offense may attempt a three-point conversion from the 5-yard line.
- An offensive conversion from the 10-yard line is worth four points.
- Defense earns three points for a three-and-out.
- Defense earns one point for forcing a punt.
- A turnover by the offense awards six points to the defense.
Uniforms and on-field notes
Despite the Orange and Blue name, one squad will wear blue and the other will wear white. Quarterbacks will be outfitted in orange jerseys.
Sumrall views a fourth-down stop as a takeaway. He considers it equivalent to a defensive turnover for scoring purposes.
Context and broader trends
Spring games are being scaled back across the SEC. Only two conference teams will stream their scrimmages live this season.
The ESPN family of networks has prioritized baseball and softball in its spring schedules. Florida’s last live spring broadcast aired on ESPN+ in 2024.
This event will provide the first extended look at the Jon Sumrall era for fans. The regular season remains nearly five months away.
