Milby had played Scratch-offs for years. Eight or nine months ago he switched to Fast Play after his grandson’s suggestion.
On the morning of the win, Milby and his wife Tammy were working in the yard. He stopped at South Green Market on South Green Street for a drink and used $30 in change to buy a $20 Big Money Doubler Fast Play ticket.
The moment of discovery
He scanned the ticket at the store and thought the machine was wrong. A friend who works at the market told him his time had come.
Milby rushed home to show Tammy. She first thought something was amiss, then returned with him to the store to see the validated ticket and a photo he took.

The validated prize totaled $551,151. That sum combined an advertised jackpot of $301,151 with a $250,000 bonus feature.
