Young Cancer Survivors Run London Marathon for Make-A-Wish UK
Two teenagers from Hertfordshire will run the TCS London Marathon on Sunday, 26 April 2026. Young Cancer Survivors Run London Marathon for Make-A-Wish UK to raise funds and awareness.
From diagnosis to recovery
At nine, Darshan was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. He underwent chemotherapy and proton-beam therapy that left him exhausted and lacking confidence.
He used his Make-A-Wish UK grant to request home gym equipment. The equipment helped him rebuild strength and a sense of normalcy. Now 18 and in remission, he will run to raise funds for the charity that supported him.
Molly fell suddenly ill after a visit with her grandparents. Tests showed a dangerously high white blood cell count.
She was rushed to Great Ormond Street Hospital and diagnosed with sepsis and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Treatment meant a year away from school and complications that affected her mobility.
As a motorsport fan, Molly chose to attend the F1 British Grand Prix for her wish. She watched practice, qualifiers, and the race, and explored the paddock. The experience created lasting family memories.
Charity advocacy and marathon mission
Both teens now sit on Make-A-Wish UK’s young people’s advisory board, STARboard. They are running as teammates and friends to help other young people facing critical illness.
The pair aim to raise funds so more children can benefit from life-changing wishes. Their goal is to give future patients something positive to look forward to.
Support and reaction
Alison Doidge, Mass Participation Events Manager at Make-A-Wish UK, described their commitment as deeply inspiring. She highlighted how wishes can leave lasting positive effects for families.
Doidge also thanked all 2026 London Marathon runners fundraising for Make-A-Wish UK. Contributions will help bring more wishes to children facing serious illness.
Filmogaz.com will follow their journey as they prepare for the race on 26 April 2026. Readers can support the runners and help make more wishes come true.
