Changes to the extended coverage system will affect how writers accumulate points to maintain their health plan benefits. The earnings threshold for coverage qualification will be increased by 10%, starting July 1, 2027. Additionally, writers must now earn a minimum of $200,000 annually to qualify for accruing extended coverage points.

The WGA successfully negotiated several key terms, emphasizing a long-term contract framework to mitigate strike risks. The contract duration was set at four years, even though the studios initially sought a five-year term.
