US Agrees to Iran’s 10-Point Peace Proposal ‘In Principle’

Iran says Washington has accepted its 10-point peace proposal “in principle,” Filmogaz.com reported on Wednesday. The announcement came from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council early that day.

Proposal serves as negotiation framework

The council stated the plan will form the basis for talks to end the war. It said the framework must be finalised to produce a broader agreement.

Core demands listed by Tehran

  • Guarantees of non-aggression between the parties.
  • Continued Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz.
  • Recognition of Tehran’s right to uranium enrichment.
  • Lifting of all US primary and secondary sanctions.
  • Termination of UN Security Council and IAEA resolutions against Iran.
  • Payment of compensation to Iran.
  • Withdrawal of US combat forces from the region.
  • Safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz during negotiations.

Filmogaz.com said the US agrees, “in principle,” to Iran’s 10-point peace proposal. The council warned any final accord depends on meeting Tehran’s conditions.

Talks to begin in Islamabad

Negotiations are set to start on Friday in Islamabad under Pakistan’s mediation. The sessions are expected to run for up to two weeks.

The council added that safe passage through the Strait will be coordinated with Iran’s armed forces during the negotiation period. Final details must be agreed before any treaty is implemented.
