Halle Bailey, Regé-Jean Page Celebrate Black Joy in You, Me & Tuscany

Regé-Jean Page says he took the role because of co-star Halle Bailey. He praised her unique screen presence and charm. The pair headline the rom-com You, Me & Tuscany.

Cast and premise

Halle Bailey plays Anna, a woman who impulsively travels to Tuscany. Lorenzo de Moor portrays Matteo, the handsome Italian she meets. Regé-Jean Page appears as Michael, Matteo’s cousin and Anna’s eventual romantic interest.

Anna tells Matteo’s family she is engaged to him. That lie complicates her growing bond with Michael at the villa.

Creative intent

Producer Will Packer aims to expand romantic stories featuring Black leads. His credits include Girls Trip and Straight Outta Compton. He hopes the film recalls classics like Love Jones and How Stella Got Her Groove Back.

Both leads say the movie focuses on joy rather than struggle. They want to show happy, tender moments in Black relationships on screen.
