Easter Tragedy: Benidorm Hotel Ceiling Collapses on Holidaymakers
At least seven people were hurt when a ceiling gave way at the Poseidón Palace hotel in Benidorm on Easter Sunday. Plasterboard and air conditioning ducts fell onto diners during the incident.
Injuries and hospital treatment
An eight-year-old boy and a 78-year-old man were taken to hospital and released after treatment. Five other guests, aged between 33 and 80, were also admitted for care.
One patient remains under observation at Hospital de la Marina Baixa. Medical teams reported no immediate fatalities.
Response at the scene
CICU officials dispatched SAMU medical units to the hotel. Teams providing basic life support and non-assisted transport also attended the scene.
Red Cross personnel helped care for those affected. Emergency services worked to stabilise casualties and clear the dining area.

The collapse occurred in a dining area where about 60 guests were present. Chunks of plasterboard and air-conditioning ducting struck people below.
Authorities have not confirmed a cause. An investigation is underway to determine why the ceiling failed.
