Meadowhall Boosts Sheffield Families with 600 Easter Egg Donation

Meadowhall has boosted Sheffield families by donating 600 chocolate eggs to the Sheffield S6 Foodbank. The gift aims to ensure local children can enjoy an Easter treat this year.

Rising need in Sheffield

The Sheffield S6 Foodbank is part of the Trussell Trust network. It runs 11 weekly sessions and supplies emergency food parcels to about 400 people each week.

Roughly one in three people receiving help are children. That figure highlights the pressure families face during school holidays.

How the donation will help

The 600 Easter egg donation will be distributed alongside food parcels. Small items like chocolate often disappear first when budgets tighten.

Organisers say the treats add a bit of normality and cheer for children at difficult times. The donation arrives ahead of the school break.

Track record of local support

The donation continues an established partnership between the centre and the charity. Over Christmas 2025, a Meadowhall collection point gathered more than 800 gifts.

Those presents ensured at least 700 Sheffield children received a toy on Christmas Day. Meadowhall staff say seasonal drives are part of a wider community commitment.

Leadership voices

Darren Pearce, Meadowhall’s centre director, said the Christmas drive showed the difference targeted collections can make. He added the team wanted to help families enjoy Easter too.

Sam Evans, CEO of the Food and Community Trust which runs the S6 Foodbank, welcomed the donation. He noted the foodbank’s weekly reach and thanked Meadowhall for its timely support.

Ongoing community projects

Meadowhall plans further community activity through 2026. New work includes a partnership with Weston Park Cancer Charity.

The centre will also act as presenting partner for the Pride of Yorkshire sculpture trail this summer. Organisers say they will continue supporting local causes year-round.
