Trump’s Adviser Compares Him to Jesus at Easter Event
Paula White-Cain, an evangelical pastor who serves as senior adviser to the White House Faith Office, likened President Donald Trump to Jesus during a White House Holy Week gathering on Wednesday. The remarks came at an Easter lunch held at the White House.
Remarks at the Easter event
White-Cain said Mr. Trump’s life has followed “a familiar pattern” she associated with Jesus. She referenced the assassination attempt on the president and the legal cases he faces.
She said Mr. Trump had been betrayed, arrested and falsely accused, and that his ordeal nearly cost him his life. White-Cain added that, as with Jesus, God “had a plan” and that resurrection brought victory over death.
Message of victory
White-Cain told the president that because of Christ’s resurrection, he believed Mr. Trump would rise. She said this victory would extend to “all you put your hand to.”
White House faith office and background
Mr. Trump created the White House faith office and installed White-Cain as its leader. She is a longtime pastor and evangelist in the independent charismatic community.
White-Cain previously held a similar role in Mr. Trump’s first administration. Her appointment places one of the president’s earliest high-profile Christian backers in a strategic outreach position.
