Ted DiBiase Jr., a former Legacy teammate of Orton and Rhodes, appeared in a cryptic video message. He spoke to a mystery caller and referenced the WrestleMania date.

DiBiase made the reference during a stream with his lawyer. That stream came after the announcement of his verdict in a massive embezzlement case.

The March 30 episode of RAW amplified the rumors. Stephanie McMahon interrupted Cody Rhodes during that show.

Rhodes mentioned Vince McMahon, which led some viewers to suspect WWE’s former chairman might be the mentor.

Dave Meltzer addresses The Rock theories

Wrestling Observer Newsletter writer Dave Meltzer reported WWE has denied The Rock’s involvement. He said Dwayne Johnson fits the description but was ruled out by company sources.

Meltzer noted the mentor reveal was planned for the April 3 SmackDown. He added that, if Johnson were involved, only a small inner circle would likely know.

He named Nick Khan and Paul Levesque as examples of people who might be kept in the loop. Meltzer said his impression is WWE already has a name known to insiders.
