Sacramento Kings’ Maxime Raynaud Earns NBA Rookie of the Month Honors

Sacramento Kings’ Maxime Raynaud was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month for March. The league announced the honor after his standout performances that month.

Draft background and role

Raynaud was a second-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The Kings selected him 42nd overall out of Stanford.

He started regularly for Sacramento and became a key rotation player. His minutes increased as the season progressed.

March performance and honors

Raynaud started all 15 games he played in March. He averaged 17.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 33 minutes per game.

He shot 59.0% from the field and 78.4% at the free-throw line during the month. Raynaud produced six 20-point efforts, including two 30-point games.

He led all rookies with six double-doubles in March. Raynaud posted a career-high 32 points against the San Antonio Spurs on March 17.

He added another 30-point game versus the Philadelphia 76ers on March 19. That stretch made him just the fourth rookie in Kings history with back-to-back 30-point games.

Historic company and milestones

In March, Raynaud totaled 268 points and 128 rebounds. That output placed him among three rookies in NBA history to reach at least 250 points and 125 rebounds while shooting 59% or better from the field.

The only other rookies to achieve that mark were Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Otis Thorpe. Raynaud also joined Cooper Flagg as one of two rookies this season with consecutive 30-point games.

Season resume and rookie leaderboard placement

Across the season, Raynaud has averaged 11.9 points and 7.3 rebounds. His shooting splits sit at about 56% from the field, 30% from three, and 78% from the free-throw line.

He leads rookies with 17 double-doubles and ranks second in total rebounds with 507. He is third in field goal percentage at 56.5% and seventh in total points with 822.

USA TODAY Sports ranks Raynaud No. 4 on its NBA Rookie Rankings. The award and ranking reflect his rapid impact as a rookie.
