Seagulls Face Gulls in Good Friday Showdown
Weston-super-Mare enter a pivotal fixture after a gruelling run of matches. The Seagulls will host Torquay at the Optima Stadium in a Good Friday showdown. The clash carries league significance and local pride.
Form and recent results
Weston have played ten games in 31 days under Scott Rogers. That stretch has included four matches against teams in play-off positions. The Seagulls collected seven points from a possible 12 in that run.
Their most recent result was a 0-0 draw with Hemel Hempstead Town at the Optima. Torquay were last in action on Saturday. They beat Horsham 2-0 at Plainmoor, with Dylan Morgan and an own goal deciding the game.
League positions and head-to-head
Torquay sit sixth in the National League South. They are one point clear of Weston but have played one extra match. The teams met on Boxing Day at Plainmoor, where Torquay won 3-1.
Louis Dennis scored twice in that earlier meeting, and Matt Jay also found the net. Charlie Cummins replied for Weston in that contest.
Management and staffing changes
Torquay have made a managerial change since the Boxing Day fixture. Paul Wotton has left the club. Jimmy Ball, formerly of AFC Totton, now holds the Plainmoor hotseat.
Ball has added Darren Way, the ex-Bath City manager, to his coaching staff. Both will be seeking a positive response at the Optima after recent defeats to Weston by their former sides.
