Brian Cox Joins ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 as The New York Ripper Unmasked
Brian Cox will appear in Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection. He joins the cast as The New York Ripper.

The New York Ripper is a serial killer who terrorized New York years ago. He is no longer active but continues to taunt survivors.
Cox is a series regular. His character expands a mystery that was partially unmasked in Season 1.
How the mystery unfolded
The Season 1 finale revealed key evidence linking the killer to Leon Prater. Dexter found a folder labeled with the name “Don Frampt, New York Ripper.”
That folder came from Peter Dinklage’s character, Leon Prater. Dexter placed several such items in a duffel as investigative leads.
Showrunners have confirmed Dexter will pursue at least one of Prater’s favorite killers in the new season.
Season 1 recap and setup for Season 2
Season 1, from showrunner Clyde Phillips, begins weeks after Dexter is shot by his son. Dexter wakes from a coma to discover Harrison missing.
Dexter heads to New York City to find Harrison and seek redemption. Miami Metro’s Angel Batista, played by David Zayas, arrives with questions.
As father and son confront their darkness, the series suggests their only escape is together.

Brian Cox — credits and recent work
Cox is an Emmy, Olivier, and Golden Globe award-winning actor. He won a Primetime Emmy for portraying Hermann Goering in Nuremberg.
His film credits include The Long Kiss Goodnight, Rushmore, Super Troopers, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and the Bourne trilogy. He also appears in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Churchill.
Cox recently made his feature directorial debut with Glenrothan. The film opens nationwide across the UK and Ireland on April 17.
