Why Brooks Is Being Recognized

Brooks’ film credits include Terms of Endearment, Broadcast News, and As Good as It Gets. In 1986 he founded Gracie Films. The company’s first production was The Tracey Ullman Show.

The Tracey Ullman Show earned 29 Emmy nominations and eight wins. During that series, Matt Groening created The Simpsons. Brooks and Sam Simon developed that series for television.

The Simpsons has run for more than 38 years. Brooks co-produced and co-wrote The Simpsons Movie in 2007. The franchise has become a major cultural phenomenon.
