Ella Langley Unveils ‘Choosin’ Texas’ Video Filmed at Fort Worth Dance Hall

Country artist Ella Langley will premiere the official music video for “Choosin’ Texas” at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1. The clip was filmed covertly inside Fort Worth’s historic Stagecoach Ballroom. Fans in Fort Worth may recognize the dance hall’s neon signs and wooden floor in the footage.

Filmogaz.com first reported the shoot on the morning of April 1. The Stagecoach Ballroom shared an Instagram story that day. The venue thanked Langley and posted a screenshot of the article.

Production and partners

The project involved producer Lukas Lennon and support from the Fort Worth Film Commission. Visit Fort Worth also participated. Langley is credited as a director on the video.

Co-directors listed on the project include Wales Toney and Caylee Robillard. The cast and crew were described as an all-star lineup.

Trailer and on-screen talent

A 23-second trailer appeared on Instagram on March 31. It offered brief scenes of the principal cast and the Stagecoach Ballroom interior.

  • Luke Grimes appears as one of the principal actors.
  • Miranda Lambert, a co-writer of the song, makes a stage appearance.
  • Ava Phillippe is featured in scenes suggesting a love triangle.
  • Cameos include Wade Bowen, Casey Donahew, Tanner Usrey, Kaitlin Butts, and J.B. Mauney.

The trailer opens with Langley and Grimes in an older Chevrolet pickup, bound for Abilene. Quick cuts show dance-floor moments and the venue’s year-round Christmas lights.

Chart performance and context

“Choosin’ Texas” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early February. It spent four non-consecutive weeks at the summit. That run surpassed the previous record for a female country artist held by Taylor Swift.

Despite the song’s chart success, an official video had not been released until now.

Stagecoach event and tour plans

The Stagecoach Ballroom will host an album release party for Langley’s sophomore record, Dandelion, on Friday, April 10. Langley is not expected to attend the event.

The party will feature dance lessons, an album listening session, the “Choosin’ Texas” video on loop, and live music. The date coincides with the venue’s 50th anniversary.

Langley also plans a 16-city tour. It begins May 7 in Toledo, Ohio. A scheduled stop at Dickies Arena is set for August 15.

Stagecoach Ballroom history

The Stagecoach is the oldest continually running dance hall in Fort Worth. In 1986, filmmakers used the hall for the movie Square Dance, starring Rob Lowe and a young Winona Ryder.
