Field research tasks and rewards

Event-exclusive field research tasks are available during the event. Pokémon Go Offers Exciting Research Tasks, Rewards, and Bonuses across these missions.

  • Catch 8 Electric-type Pokémon → encounter: Pikachu, Magnemite, Chinchou, Mareep, Joltik, Dedenne or Pawmi.
  • Catch 5 different Electric-type species → encounter: Alolan Raichu.
  • Catch 3 Pikachu → encounter: Pikachu.
  • Power up Electric-type Pokémon → encounter: Pikachu, Magnemite, Chinchou, Mareep, Joltik, Dedenne or Pawmi.

Shiny odds and special notes

Shiny rates for select Electric-types are increased. Pikachu, Chinchou and Dedenne have better shiny odds during the event.

There are rumors Mimikyu may appear on Wednesday 1 April. Niantic has not confirmed that April Fools detail.

Spotlight Hours schedule

Spotlight Hours run daily from 6pm to 7pm local time. Each hour highlights one Electric-type Pokémon.

  • Tuesday 31 March — Mareep.
  • Wednesday 1 April — Pikachu.
  • Thursday 2 April — Magnemite.
  • Friday 3 April — Chinchou.
  • Saturday 4 April — Pawmi.
  • Sunday 5 April — Dedenne.
  • Monday 6 April — Joltik.

Wild spawns

Several Electric-types spawn more often during the event. Watch for Pikachu, Magnemite, Chinchou, Mareep, Joltik, Dedenne and Pawmi.

Go Pass details

The Go Pass runs from Tuesday 31 March until Monday 6 April at 8pm local time. Players must claim rewards before 7:59pm local time on Wednesday 8 April.

  • No daily Go Point limit from Saturday 4 April 12am to Monday 6 April 7:49pm local time.
  • Every player receives the Free Track.
  • Deluxe Track price: $4.99 or local equivalent.
  • Deluxe Track with six ranks pre-completed: $6.99 or local equivalent.
  • Purchases are nonrefundable and cannot use PokéCoin.

Track rewards

  • Free Track rewards: Ultra Balls, Candy, Major Milestone bonuses, and encounters with Raichu, Chinchou, Dedenne and Pawmi.
  • Deluxe Track rewards: extra Major Milestone bonus, Rare Candy XL, additional encounters, an avatar item and more.

Major Milestone bonuses

  • Tier One Free Track – Incense duration doubled.
  • Tier One Free Track – Double catch candy.
  • Deluxe Track – Double catch Stardust.

Additional activities

The Pressure Rising special research remains available during the event. Standard features like Go Battle League and Remote Trading continue.

PokéStop Showcase, Routes and Max Battles are also active. Players should use the event window to catch rare Pokémon.
