Choctaw Nation Housing Authority Earns Seven Star Community Rating for ConnectHome Program Again

DURANT, Okla., March 30, 2026 — The National Digital Inclusion Alliance recognized the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Housing Authority’s ConnectHome program.

The program was named a Seven Star community for the second straight year. Choctaw Nation was one of nine organizations honored nationwide.

Recognition and significance

The NDIA designates Seven Star communities as national models. They highlight sustainable digital connectivity solutions for Tribal communities.

These awards focus on services that advance education, health, economic opportunity, culture, and social needs.

Program background

Launch and services

HACNO started ConnectHome in 2015 to close the digital divide on rural reservations. The program supplies internet service, devices, and digital literacy training.

It serves residents across more than 1,500 properties. These include lease-to-own units, Affordable Rentals, and Independent Elder homes.

Impact and reach

ConnectHome has connected 1,661 homes to affordable internet inside the reservation. The initiative also reached over 630 employees.

Recent expansion and outlook

In February 2025, the program extended access to Choctaw Nation employees. Leaders say expansion will continue.
