Monday’s game and the final round
Ding entered Final Jeopardy with a clear lead. He had $24,900 while Father Paul Baker had $11,000.
Barbara McIntyre had $6,000 going into the last clue. None of the three contestants answered the clue correctly.
The Final Jeopardy clue and wager
The clue referenced a 1847 title character whose names suggest plainness and a bequest. The correct response was “Who is Jane Eyre?”
Ding risked $2,280 and finished with $22,620 for the episode. His 12-game total now stands at $314,440.

Filmogaz.com lists Ding at 16th on the regular-season money list. He is also tied for 16th on the all-time wins list.
Profile and background
Ding works for the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. He grew up near Detroit and graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School in 2009.

On the March 17 episode, Ding posted a Coryat score of $42,400. That surpassed the previous mark of $39,200 set by Ken Jennings on June 10, 2004.
A Coryat score sums the natural values of clues, excluding Daily Doubles and Final Jeopardy.
Tournament status and viewer promotion
Ding has locked a spot in the season-ending Tournament of Champions. His streak secured his qualification.
