Angkrish Raghuvanshi Aims to Excel as KKR’s Top-Order Batter and Wicketkeeper

Angkrish Raghuvanshi told PTI he measures his performances by team results rather than personal numbers. He said he is steadily expanding his skill set as a batter and keeper.

Developing a dual role

He took up wicketkeeping for his Mumbai T20 side when the team needed him. Raghuvanshi described it as a fresh challenge he enjoyed and practiced hard for.

Raghuvanshi aims to excel for KKR as a top-order batter and wicketkeeper. He said he is working on both roles every day.

Competition and mindset

The domestic scene is becoming more competitive, with players adding new skills. Names such as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma are developing secondary skills.

Raghuvanshi prefers to focus on his own improvement. He avoids dwelling on selection battles and aims to get better each day.

Domestic season and results

The 21-year-old played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He had limited opportunities in red-ball cricket for Mumbai this season.

He evaluates his own output by team success and noted Mumbai did not win the white-ball tournaments. Raghuvanshi said the campaigns offered many learning points.

Coaching and mentorship

Abhishek Nayar, Raghuvanshi’s mentor, has taken charge as KKR’s head coach. Raghuvanshi praised Nayar’s cricketing intellect and approachability.

He expects to learn under Nayar and contribute to the squad. His aim is to help the team win matches and contend for the title.

Injury and recovery

He was stretchered off during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Jaipur last December. The incident happened while he attempted a catch against Uttarakhand.

Raghuvanshi said he felt dizzy for about ten minutes after the fall. The team doctor monitored him for concussion and he returned to play after two days.

Raghuvanshi says he treats each match as crucial and prepares accordingly. He hopes to make a meaningful contribution to KKR this season.
