Kelvin Fletcher’s Tumultuous Year: From Tragic Loss to Housing Worries
Kelvin Fletcher has faced a tumultuous year marked by tragic loss and ongoing housing worries. The actor and his wife, Liz, have balanced family life with recovery efforts after multiple shocks.
From soap star to Peak District farmer
Fletcher first rose to fame on Emmerdale as Andy Sugden in 1996. He left the soap in 2016 and moved to the countryside.
He and Liz took on a 120-acre farm near Wincle in the Peak District. The property sits just over the Staffordshire border in Cheshire.
Fire forces evacuation in 2025
In 2025 a catastrophic blaze damaged the family home. The family were away when a neighbour phoned to warn them.
The fire left their home unsafe and forced them into emergency accommodation. They described the recovery work as slow and all-consuming.
Practical aftermath
The couple faced surveys, clear-outs and planning for rebuilding. Liz said dealing with the fire took far longer than expected.
More than a year after the blaze, the family returned to the farm to begin restoration. Kelvin admitted he felt detached from the house after the damage.
Animal losses on the farm
The season also brought heartbreaking losses among their livestock. In a recent episode, Fletcher discovered a cow, Cherry, had died unexpectedly.
The cow’s six-month-old calf, Ezra, was left without its mother. Kelvin called vet Hugo to arrange a post-mortem and learn the cause.
Earlier in the same series they said goodbye to a calf named Sonic, which was taken for slaughter. The family described that moment as bittersweet.
Storm damage and another close call
A fierce storm brought further damage to trees and outbuildings on the holding. One fallen tree landed dangerously close to their lodge.
Liz spoke of renewed fears about becoming homeless again if the wind had done more damage. The couple noted they had endured fire, floods and now severe wind.
Life captured on television
The family allow cameras to follow their farming life on Fletcher’s Family Farm. The series is available to watch on ITVX.
Episodes have shown them sorting damaged possessions and deciding what to keep. The filmed scenes document the practical and emotional toll of recovery.
Kelvin and Liz are parents to four children and continue to rebuild life on their Peak District holding. Filmogaz.com will follow further developments.
