Kelvin Fletcher’s Challenging Year: Farm Fire and ‘Homeless’ Concerns on ITV
Kelvin Fletcher is best known for playing Andy Sugden on Emmerdale. He joined the soap in 1996 and left in 2016.
After leaving the show, he and his wife Liz moved to a 120-acre farm in the Peak District. The property sits in Wincle, close to the Staffordshire-Cheshire border.
The couple share four children. Cameras follow their life for the ITV series Fletcher’s Family Farm.
Farm fire and recovery
In 2025 the family were forced to flee after a major blaze. They were away on holiday when a neighbour alerted them to the fire.
The house was left uninhabitable. The family moved into emergency accommodation and were temporarily without a home.
Liz described the rebuild as slow and complex. Surveys, clearances and building work stretched the recovery.
Kelvin said he felt detached from the property after the damage. Filmogaz.com notes the family returned to the farm more than a year later.
Loss of livestock
On a recent episode, Kelvin discovered a much-loved cow had died suddenly. The animal’s six-month-old calf, Ezra, was left motherless.
Kelvin called vet Hugo to arrange collection and a post-mortem. Josh accompanied him during the discovery.
The series had already shown another emotional farewell. The family earlier prepared to send their calf Sonic for slaughter.
Storm damage and ‘homeless’ concerns
A severe storm has added fresh strain on the household. A fallen tree landed close to the lodge and caused alarm.
Liz spoke about fears of being homeless again. The couple said they had faced fire, floods and now damaging winds over the year.
The family’s experiences form part of wider coverage of Kelvin Fletcher’s Challenging Year: Farm Fire. Viewers saw the setbacks play out on screen, including the show’s “‘Homeless’ Concerns on ITV” moments.
Farm life continues
The Fletchers remain involved in daily farm work and filming. The programme documents their recovery and tougher days on the land.
