Disney Invests €2 Billion in Paris as World of Frozen Debuts
Disney invests €2 billion in Paris to build an immersive new land at Disneyland Paris. The project anchors a wider relaunch of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World.
The inauguration took place in Marne-la-Vallée on March 28, 2026. The new area officially opened the following day.
World of Frozen: attractions and experiences
The World of Frozen features a picturesque lagoon and a charming Nordic-style village. Guests will find an interactive robotic snowman and meet Anna and Elsa.
Visitors can ride the Frozen Ever After boat attraction. A separate Tangled-themed experience also joins the lineup.
- A central lake links the new lands and promenades.
- Fifteen new dining venues serve varied menus across the expansion.
- A nighttime spectacular uses a combined aquatic and aerial drone system.
Design roots and creative intent
Frozen and Tangled were chosen for their European storytelling origins. Frozen draws on Hans Christian Andersen’s Snow Queen, and Tangled references Grimm’s Rapunzel.
Michel den Dulk, vice president and creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering, said the land’s northern European village suited Disneyland Paris. He emphasized the cultural fit for the resort.
Park transformation and wider strategy
More than 90% of Walt Disney Studios Park will have been redesigned since its 2002 opening. The original resort opened in 1992 as Euro Disney and faced harsh early criticism.
Disney says the Paris resort has recorded 445 million visits. The company also reports the resort supports roughly 70,000 jobs.
Financial context
The Paris investment forms part of a roughly $60 billion global parks expansion. Disney’s parks and experiences generated 57% of that business’s segment operating income in fiscal 2025.
Political and local impact
French President Emmanuel Macron visited the park ahead of the opening. He called the resort a leading tourist destination in Europe and said the expansion will create 1,000 direct jobs.
