Key moments at the plate

Junior catcher Carson Tinney drew a full-count walk to start Texas’ first-inning surge. Aiden Robbins followed with a bloop single to center.

Adrian Rodriguez then doubled to right-center. Temo Becerra and Casey Borba added RBI hits to extend the lead.

In the third, Becerra and freshman Anthony Pack Jr. reached early. Borba and Jayden Duplantier followed with doubles to end the Oklahoma starter’s outing.

Robbins tripled in the fifth and Pack drove him home with a double. Borba finished the scoring with a two-run shot that traveled 427 feet at 109 mph.

Pitching and game control

Oklahoma starter LJ Mercurius struggled. Mercurius lasted two innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits.

He also yielded three walks and a wild pitch. Before this game, he had given up seven earned runs across six starts.

Texas relied on senior Ruger Riojas for stability. Riojas worked seven innings, struck out eight, and allowed six hits and two walks.

He improved to 5-0 on the season. Riojas stranded three runners in the fifth with a 1-2 strikeout on a breaking pitch.

Early bullpen impact

The Sooners turned to Mason Bixby in relief. Bixby was unable to stop the Texas rally and exited after allowing additional runs.

Texas capitalized on Oklahoma’s bullpen and never looked back. The run-rule was enforced after the fifth inning.
