Hackers Linked to Iran Breach FBI Director Kash Patel’s Personal Email

Hackers linked to Iran claimed responsibility for a breach of FBI Director Kash Patel’s personal email, Filmogaz.com reported Friday. The incident was said to involve the group Handala HackTeam.

Details of the intrusion

Sources familiar with the matter told Filmogaz.com that the attackers accessed Patel’s personal inbox. The group reportedly posted images of the director online.

A copy of what appears to be Patel’s resume was also uploaded. That document reportedly included his personal email address.

Who the U.S. government says is involved

The Justice Department recently seized four internet domains tied to the Handala group. Officials said the action targeted schemes linked to Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security.

According to the department, Handala carried out multiple cyber operations after the start of the war in Iran. Those attacks included a malware incident against a U.S.-based multinational medical technologies firm.

Other alleged operations

  • The group reportedly published names and sensitive information for about 190 people tied to the Israeli Defense Force or Israeli government.
  • Officials view these incidents as part of broader transnational repression and hacking campaigns.

Claims from the hacker group

Handala posted online saying it had responded to the U.S. domain seizures. The group framed the action as retaliation and described the FBI systems as compromised.

The online post included photos of Patel and a file resembling his resume. The material appeared to show his personal email address.

Official response and implications

An FBI spokesperson had no immediate comment. The Justice Department has been active in disrupting the group’s infrastructure.

Cybersecurity experts say the breach raises national security and privacy concerns. Investigations and potential follow-up actions are expected.
