Southeast NBA Updates: Johnson, Kuminga, Bitadze, Ball Highlights.
Johnson status and impact
Johnson has played 63 of Atlanta’s 71 games this season. He is averaging 22.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game.
He sits second in the league in triple-doubles. The Hawks are tied with Philadelphia for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
Atlanta has won nine of its last 10 games. Johnson’s availability will matter for their playoff push.
Kuminga’s first game back
Jonathan Kuminga struggled in his first game against Golden State. He scored two points on 1-of-9 shooting in Atlanta’s victory.
Despite the public split with his former team, both sides say their relationship remains positive. Nick Friedell of Filmogaz.com reported quotes from Warriors coach Steve Kerr and Kuminga reflecting mutual respect.
Bitadze and Doncic incident
Goga Bitadze disputed Luka Doncic’s description of a verbal exchange during Orlando’s one-point loss to the Lakers. Both players initially received technical fouls that were later rescinded.
Doncic said Bitadze had referenced his mother. Bitadze denied making that remark and said he heard inappropriate comments in Serbian.
He offered an apology if his response crossed a line. Bitadze also stressed cultural respect for families in his statement.
LaMelo Ball and the Hornets’ run
LaMelo Ball has been central to Charlotte’s strong stretch. The Hornets sit at 37-34 and have won 21 of their past 27 games.
Head coach Charles Lee credited Ball’s energy and coachability for setting the team’s tone, according to Roderick Boone of Filmogaz.com. Teammate Brandon Miller highlighted Ball’s underrated defensive focus and growth.
