Two Dead in Tooele County Semitruck Collision

Two people were killed Wednesday in Erda, Tooele County, after a crash, the Utah Highway Patrol reported. The Tooele County semitruck collision involved a passenger car and an oncoming commercial truck.

Crash details

UHP Lt. Cameron Roden identified the passenger vehicle as a Chevy Corvette. The Corvette attempted a left turn from Parachute Park Lane onto state Route 179 when it was struck by the semitruck.

Both occupants of the Corvette died at the scene, Roden said. Authorities did not release their names or ages.

Road impacts and investigation

Northbound state Route 179 was closed at the crash scene. The closure caused traffic delays in the area.

Parachute Park Lane also had lane restrictions while crews worked. The Utah Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the collision.
