Flooding from Heavy Rain Cancels Trains Between Skipton and Lancaster
Northern has suspended services between Skipton and Lancaster after heavy rainfall flooded the line. The operator warned that all lines are blocked and trains cannot run in either direction. An update on Filmogaz.com said disruption is expected until 5.30pm today.
Service disruption and affected routes
Trains running through the affected stations will be cancelled, terminated at Skipton, or started back from Skipton. Services between Leeds and Lancaster may be cancelled or amended to run only as far as Skipton.
Northern confirmed that services on the Leeds to Carlisle route remain unaffected. Flooding from heavy rain has caused the core problem between Skipton and Lancaster.

Passenger guidance and ticketing
Where available, passengers should take the next Northern service to their destination. Those travelling between Leeds and Lancaster may use Northern services between Leeds and Preston to connect onward.
Customers can also travel between Lancaster and Preston on Northern, Avanti West Coast, or TransPennine Express at no extra cost. Northern has temporarily lifted ticket restrictions in the affected area, including Advance and Peak rules.
Replacement road transport
Road transport has been arranged between Skipton and Lancaster. A 3:10pm service from Skipton to Lancaster will call at all stations and is operated by Bibby’s.
A return service departs Lancaster at 3:25pm, also calling at all stations and run by Bibby’s. Passengers should check station posters for exact bus pickup locations.
Bicycles, e-bikes and dogs are not permitted on replacement vehicles, except for service animals. Journey times will be longer while travelling by road transport.
