Logan O’Connor Debuts for Avalanche this Season Against Penguins
The Colorado Avalanche will welcome two forwards back for Tuesday’s game at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. Logan O’Connor and Ross Colton are scheduled to re-enter the lineup against the Penguins.
Roster updates
O’Connor will make his season debut after missing the first 69 games. He underwent offseason hip surgery and later dealt with a second, undisclosed issue. He says both problems are resolved.
Colton missed six games after suffering an injury on March 10 against Edmonton. He has recorded eight goals and 23 points in 60 games this season.
Other injured players
Gabe Landeskog returned Sunday in a matchup with the Washington Capitals. Artturi Lehkonen skated Tuesday morning and appears close to rejoining the group.
Line combinations and strategy
Coach Jared Bednar gains more flexibility with these returns. He plans to move Nazem Kadri back to his natural center spot.
Kadri rejoined Colorado just before the March 6 trade deadline. He spent his first eight games back playing wing next to either Nathan MacKinnon or Brock Nelson.
What to watch
Keep an eye on chemistry as the Avalanche adjust lines. O’Connor’s debut this season against the Penguins could influence depth minutes.
