Federations outline selection plans

Netball Uganda president Jocelyn Ucanda said the She Cranes squad is in place. Structured training and preparation will begin soon.

Boxing federation boss Moses Muhangi highlighted the ongoing Champions League. He said the tournament will help finalise selections.

Athletics and judo updates

Athletics Uganda president Dominic Otucet noted that stars Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo might not be available. He added this opens opportunities for emerging talent.

Judo federation president George William Ssekiwunga confirmed that two representatives are already secured. That early confirmation allows focused preparation.

Administration, discipline and targets

Uganda ramps up preparations across federations and administrative teams. Coordination meetings and paperwork are underway.

Uganda Olympic Committee president Dr Donald Rukare and Team Uganda chief de mission Godwin Kayangwe said logistics and documentation are being prioritised. They aim to have all requirements met well before departure.

Athletes’ representative Shadir Musa Bwogi urged competitors to train hard and stay disciplined. He stressed consistency as the Games approach.

Goals and future pathway

The Glasgow event runs from July 23 to August 2, 2026. Uganda is targeting an improved haul over Birmingham 2022.

At Birmingham, Uganda took three golds and two bronzes in athletics and boxing. Officials say preparations for the 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Senegal remain part of the long-term talent plan.

The Youth Olympics are scheduled for October 31 to November 13, 2026. That event is seen as a chance to strengthen the pipeline.
