Urs Fischer took charge of Mainz in December. His work steadied the club but danger still looms near the bottom.

Mainz beat Sigma Olomouc 2-0 in the Conference League second leg. Stefan Posch and Armindo Sieb scored second-half goals to reach the quarter-finals.

Mainz will miss several defenders this weekend. Stefan Bell and Maxim Dal are out with knee problems.

Andreas Hanche-Olsen is sidelined with a muscular issue. Goalkeeper Robin Zentner has a groin problem. Anthony Caci is out with a tendon issue.

Benedict Hollerbach is out for the season with an Achilles injury. Silas Katompa Mvumpa is also ruled out with a broken leg.
