Spotlight: C4SH Takes Center Stage
Senior Character Designer Tommy Westerman has shared new design details for C4SH the Rogue. The feature, presented in Spotlight: C4SH Takes Center Stage, explains how randomness shapes the character. Filmogaz.com summarizes the key mechanics and release information below.
Where C4SH appears
C4SH arrives as part of Story Pack 1: Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This paid DLC launches on March 26 and adds new story missions and loot. It also introduces a fresh map zone, The Whispering Glacier.
Trait: Windfall
C4SH’s core trait is Windfall. It fuels a risk-and-reward playstyle tied to Fortune stacks.
Fortune stacks build when C4SH kills enemies. Windfall can trigger when he auto-reloads after emptying a magazine or uses an Action Skill. Activating Windfall consumes all Fortune stacks to boost Skill Damage and Gun Damage. While Windfall is active, Action Skills are upgraded. Fortune Skills behave as if C4SH has maximum Fortune stacks.
Core Action Skills
C4SH brings three distinct Action Skills to combat. Each scales differently under Windfall.
Cross-Fire
Cross-Fire swaps to dual revolvers for a third-person barrage. The skill allows secondary effects like melee knockback and lock-on targeting. During Windfall, revolver shots gain a chance to ricochet for extra hits.
Sleight of Hand
Sleight of Hand draws cards in both hands and casts spell-like attacks. Examples include Fireball and Magic Missile, with more options unlocked via Augments. Adding card types increases draw randomness. Windfall greatly amplifies each card’s effect.
Cleromancy
Cleromancy uses supernatural Bone Dice to summon Bone Totems. Totem effects depend on the roll and can buff allies, act as turrets, or seek targets. Some Totems are stationary while others move. Under Windfall, dice rolls always produce a unique result.
Skill trees and Augments
C4SH has three skill trees: Chaos Walking, Luck of the Draw, and Roll the Bones. None of these trees use a traditional Capstone ability.
All trees share a Devil’s Tines passive. That passive grants an extra Augment slot. With it, C4SH can equip up to four Augments simultaneously. This enables flexible builds and high customization.
Build examples include incendiary Cross-Fire with rockets, Sleight of Hand decks that freeze or corrode enemies, and Cleromancy to summon totems that chain lightning or grant Overshield support.
Where to buy Story Pack 1
Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned is the first of two post-launch Story Packs for Borderlands 4. The DLC requires the base game.
- If you do not own Borderlands 4, buy the Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition. It bundles Story Packs 1 and 2, the Ornate Order Pack, and Bounty Packs 2–5.
- If you already own Borderlands 4, you can buy the Vault Hunter Pack. That pack contains Story Packs 1 and 2 plus the Ornate Order Pack. Alternatively, purchase Story Pack 1 individually.
