Somerset Cricket Museum Volunteers Shine in Filming of Bargain Hunt!

Television crews filmed at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton on Monday, March 16. The BBC recorded an episode of Bargain Hunt focused on the history of women’s cricket.

On-site activity

The Somerset Cricket Museum hosted parts of the shoot inside the ground. Auctioneer Christina Trevanion attended, and museum trustees supported the production.

Guests and interviews

England great Enid Bakewell joined the filming. The 85-year-old played 12 Test matches and 23 one-day internationals between 1968 and 1979.

Dr Rafaelle Nicholson, a women’s cricket historian from Bournemouth University, provided context on the game’s past. Crew captured interviews and archive material for the episode.

Volunteers and museum role

Somerset Cricket Museum volunteers shone during the filming for Bargain Hunt. Trustees and volunteers helped with logistics and provided on-screen support.

Museum trustee Mike Unwin coordinated the visit and described the day as successful. He said the BBC secured the footage and interviews they required, and called the national exposure valuable publicity.

Broadcast plans

The programme is scheduled to air in the summer. The timing will coincide with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
