Our Star Shines: Wins Gold at World Indoor Championships!

Jakub Szymański delivered a commanding performance to win the men’s 60 metres hurdles at the World Indoor Championships in Toruń. Our star shines as he crossed the line in 7.40 seconds.

Race recap

Szymański entered the event as a clear favorite. He is a two-time European indoor medallist and had set a Polish record of 7.37 seconds in March.

He dominated the heats and semifinal. In the final he clipped a hurdle but still held on for first place.

After the race he showed visible emotion. Last year in Nanjing he did not reach the final, so this victory carried extra meaning.

  • Jakub Szymański — gold in the 60 m hurdles.

Szymański had spoken before the meet about stringing together a long winning streak. He aimed for 14 straight victories and had recorded eleven wins earlier in the season.
