Jakub Szymański seized gold in the 60 metres hurdles at the World Indoor Championships in Toruń. He crossed the line in 7.40 seconds to claim the title.
Pre-final form and lead-up
Unbeaten since January, Szymański arrived in Toruń with strong momentum. A few days earlier he ran 7.37 seconds in Berlin, matching Dylan Beard and Trey Cunningham.
Cunningham raised the stakes in the semis. He won his semifinal in 7.35 seconds, less than an hour before the final. Beard reached the final but withdrew with an injury.
