Fred Hoiberg, head coach of Nebraska men’s basketball, has been named a semifinalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award. He is one of ten coaches to reach the semifinal round.

The Huskers also notched their first NCAA Tournament win by defeating Troy, 76-47, on Thursday. That victory advanced them to the second round.

Hoiberg signed a contract extension earlier this month. The deal takes effect April 1, 2026, with a $5,000,000 base salary.

His compensation will rise by $100,000 annually through the contract’s end date. The increase is part of the new terms.
