Feds Launch Investigation Into Staten Island Molotov Cocktail Case

Federal agents have joined the probe after an apparent arson attempt on a New Dorp Beach home. The 911 call came at 10:31 p.m. on Wednesday. Local and federal teams remain on the scene.

What happened

Authorities say two suspects hurled three Molotov-style devices at a Roma Avenue residence. The devices did not explode and caused no reported injuries. A man was inside a bedroom at the time, a source with knowledge told Filmogaz.com.

At least one device broke through a window and landed inside the home. The suspects fled in a dark-colored two-door sedan. Police are unsure whether the attack was random or targeted.

Response at the scene

The NY Arson and Explosives Task Force from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded. That task force includes ATF agents, NYPD detectives and FDNY personnel. An ATF spokesperson confirmed the agency’s investigation remains active.

The NYPD reported that no arrests have been made. Detectives taped off Roma Avenue on Thursday morning. The roped area ended at Ebbitts Street.
