Raduano Recounts Corsican Escape and Murder: “A Gesture to Repay”

Marco Raduano, a former Gargano mafia boss now cooperating with prosecutors, told judges he killed Paul-Félix Paoli in Corsica. He said the killing repaid help he received during his escape from Badu ’e Carros prison on February 24, 2023.

Escape planning and vulnerabilities

Raduano told the Tribunal of Nuoro that he studied the prison for months. He said he mapped weaknesses and collected information from other inmates.

He described a role inside the facility that gave him access to keys and blind spots. One inmate, he said, even supplied a tool from the workshop.

Flight and support network

After the February 24 escape, Raduano said he hid in Sardinia and later reached Corsica. He named Bitti, Orune, and Padru as places that hosted him during his flight.

He recalled spending four days in a ruined building in central Nuoro. He left only at night to fetch food and water.

The Corsican killing

Raduano recounted the Corsican escape and described the Paoli killing as “a gesture to repay” those who helped him. He framed the act as repayment for the assistance he received while on the run.

He added that he left prison with nothing and was provided with clothes, shelter, and transport by supporters. Those claims now form part of the prosecution’s case.

Court proceedings and evidence

The testimony was given by videoconference during a trial in Nuoro. Two accused facilitators face charges for aiding his concealment.

Prosecutors say Raduano’s statements help map a network of complicity behind the escape. His account is now a key element in the ongoing judicial investigation.
