Shatner’s on-screen legacy
William Shatner first played Captain James T. Kirk in 1966. His performance helped reshape science fiction on television and film.
Shatner’s portrayal added layers to the leading man. The role showed a more fallible and complex type of hero than common in the 1960s.
Why the celebration matters
The pop-up highlights both nostalgia and franchise breadth. It also honors Shatner’s long influence on screen acting and popular culture.
