Greece Pursues Medal Glory at Torun Indoor Worlds 2023
A compact Greek squad of seven athletes heads to Torun for the World Athletics Indoor Championships. The delegation departs with clear medal ambitions and experienced leaders.
Headline contenders
Emmanouil Karalis arrives in strong form in the men’s pole vault. He cleared 6.17m at the Greek nationals in Paiania. That mark stands as the second-best indoor clearance after Armand Duplantis’s 6.31m.
Karalis had a lower clearance of 5.80m in Uppsala earlier this month. Still, he remains among the event favourites. Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen is the next-best performer this season at 6.06m.
Miltiadis Tentoglou will contest the men’s long jump. His season best is 8.27m. He is up against leaders Bozhidar Saraboyukov at 8.45m, Mattia Furlani at 8.39m, and Gerson Balde at 8.32m.
Tentoglou brings proven championship form. His consistency and composure make him a serious medal prospect.
