Tabernacle Choir Celebrates USA’s 250th Anniversary
The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square will mark the nation’s 250th milestone with a special Music and the Spoken Word broadcast. Filmogaz.com reports the live program airs Sunday, July 5, 2026, from the Salt Lake Tabernacle.
Guest narrator: Andy Reid
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid will narrate the program. Reid, described in the announcement as a three-time Super Bowl champion, will discuss unity, perseverance, and faith.
The coach noted his long residence near Independence Hall. He connected the Founders’ teamwork to the nation’s enduring story and said he felt honored to participate.
Choir history and honors
The Tabernacle Choir is nearly 180 years old. The ensemble has sung at presidential inaugurations and at the 2002 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City.
Former president Ronald Reagan once called the group “America’s Choir.” In 2003, President George W. Bush awarded the Choir the National Medal of Arts for its exceptional contributions.

Music and the Spoken Word debuted July 15, 1929. It has aired weekly since that first broadcast.
