Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards — Channel 5 (Tuesday 24 March, 9pm)
This feature-length factual drama examines allegations against former newsreader Huw Edwards. Martin Clunes plays Edwards.
The story follows how a vulnerable 17-year-old was groomed. The young man is portrayed by Osian Morgan.
The timeline includes online contact from December 2020 to August 2021. In September 2022 Edwards read the national announcement of Queen Elizabeth II’s death. In July 2023 a newspaper claimed a top broadcaster paid a teenager for sexual images. Investigations later identified Edwards.
Police enquiries led to a guilty plea at Westminster Magistrates Court in 2024 for making indecent images of children. The drama draws on over a year of research, first‑hand interviews and important documentary material, including reporting by The Sun.
Crookhaven — BBC One (Sunday 22 March, 3.05pm)
Adapted from JJ Arcanjo’s novels, this eight-part drama is pitched as family entertainment. It centres on a secret school for young crooks.
Students train to use illicit skills for balance and justice. A group of eight international pupils compete for the Crooked Cup while facing an enemy called The Nameless.
The cast includes Dougray Scott, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Keith Allen, Claire Forlani and emerging talents Lucas Leach, Carmel Laniado, Amari Bacchus, Leila Khan and Charlie Mann. Emily Maitlis provides a voice role. Filming took place in Northern Ireland.
The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer — Channel 4 (Sunday 22 March, 7.40pm)
Celebrities return to the tent to raise funds for charity. Cherish Finden joins Paul Hollywood as a judge this series.
Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond host the episode. The comedians special features Joe Wilkinson, Roisin Conaty, Rose Matafeo, Judi Love, Tom Davis and Jon Richardson.
