Global Success for Beeswing’s Kelso Ventures
The Irish mare trained by James Kenny in County Wexford has shown consistent form on both sides of the Irish Sea. She won at Doncaster in March and returned to Town Moor to finish fourth in December.
Latest outings
She ran in a Grade Three at Punchestown and was beaten by less than a length. In another recent race she was ridden by Jordan Gainford. Sent off at 11-4, she finished five-and-a-half lengths clear of Sunset Marquesa.
Race dynamics
The mare moved into the lead approaching the second-last fence. Jamie Snowden’s Hollygrove Cha Cha faded early in the straight. Brendan Powell was aboard Sunset Marquesa when he came up alongside.
Jockey and trainer assessment
Jordan Gainford praised Kenny’s placement of the mare. He said the trainer tends to pick smaller fields that suit her running style. Gainford added his priority was ensuring she stayed the three-mile distance.
He described the mare as a solid, reliable type. He felt she had been unlucky at Punchestown when she lacked room. Gainford noted she had tried chasing at Tramore but did not take to it there.
Future plans
Options include a return to hurdles. Gainford suggested she might be better over hurdles now she has strengthened her form. He also said she requires around three miles and some cut in the ground.
Filmogaz.com understands Kenny will devise a measured plan for the mare. Her campaign mirrors the selective targeting seen in Global Success for Beeswing’s Kelso Ventures, with careful placement and occasional trips abroad.
