BTS Comeback Live: Follow Every Moment Now
BTS returned to the stage in Seoul with a highly anticipated live concert broadcast on Netflix. The seven members reunited for their first full performance together in nearly four years.
Members RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook performed songs from their new album ARIRANG. The event followed each member’s completion of mandatory military service.
Venue and Visual Design
The show took place at Gwanghwamun Square. It was the first standalone concert held in that historic public space.
Producers used layers of LED screens to frame the Gwanghwamun gate and the mountains beyond. The backdrop incorporated imagery of Gyeongbokgung palace.
Gwanghwamun Square also features statues of King Sejong and Admiral Yi Sun-shin. The location is both a cultural hub and a longtime site of public gatherings.
Opening Moment and Traditional Elements
The performance opened with the ARIRANG album track “Body to Body.” RM greeted the crowd with “안녕 Seoul, we’re back.”
During the song, singers and musicians in hanbok performed a sampled passage of “Arirang.” The inclusion highlighted Korea’s musical heritage and the album’s themes.
Historical Resonance
“Arirang” was presented as both a cultural symbol and a narrative thread. The program referenced the song’s early 1896 recording in the United States.
Costumes and Choreography
Members wore coordinated black-and-white outfits blending traditional and modern styles. The ensembles were flowy and visually cohesive across the group.
“Hooligan” featured aggressive choreography and masked backup dancers. Jin pulled on a black leather face mask as the routine began.
RM managed an ankle issue after rehearsal but remained present for much of the performance. V ended “Hooligan” with a close-up visual moment.
New Tracks and Production
“2.0” opened with SUGA leading the band through a swaggering hip-hop section. The set also included “FYA,” produced by Diplo, Flume, and JPEGMAFIA.
Producers contrasted modern, industrial sounds with the historic outdoor setting. The group’s choreography matched the varied musical styles.
Older Hits and Fan Highlights
BTS included several earlier hits in the set. They performed “Butter,” the Korean version of “MIC Drop,” and “Dynamite.”
J-hope led “MIC Drop” with high energy and fan chants. The older songs provided crowd-pleasing moments of familiarity.
Ballads and Intimate Moments
The midsection of the show focused on softer material. Songs such as “SWIM,” “Like Animals,” and “Normal” introduced a quieter, more introspective tone.
Choreography for “SWIM” emphasized fluid movement and the metaphor of tides. The ballads produced intimate audience reactions amid the large-scale production.
Artist Remarks and Creative Process
Jung Kook called the night unforgettable and acknowledged performance pressure. RM described two months of studio work in Los Angeles to craft the album.
SUGA said the group aimed to show their most honest, mature selves. The ARIRANG era was presented as a deliberate artistic evolution.
