Max Verstappen returns to the Nürburgring Nordschleife this weekend. The outing serves as a final preparation ahead of the 24-hour race in May.

Event and schedule

The entry is for the 58th ADAC Barbarossa Prize. This event is the second round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS).

The NLS race was moved to this weekend to avoid clashes with Formula 1 grands prix. English commentary begins at 10:15am BST on Saturday, March 21. The four-hour contest starts at 11:00am.

Drivers and car

Verstappen will make his first competitive appearance in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the Nordschleife. He will use this same car for the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours.

The four-time F1 champion won his first GT3 race at the track last year. His teammates for the NLS round are Dani Juncadella and Jules Gounon.

Juncadella and Gounon will join Lucas Auer again for the endurance classic. The Nürburgring 24 Hours is scheduled for May 16-17.

Licence and preparation

Verstappen has already met the requirements to race at the Nordschleife. He secured a special licence in September last year.

That licence campaign began a week after he won the Italian Grand Prix. This NLS round will be used as practical preparation ahead of the endurance event.
