SLC Schedules Fitness Tests Next Week Before Granting NOC

Several Sri Lankan players missed either all or part of the recent T20 World Cup due to injuries. The precise medical details for some of them remain unclear.

Players affected

The squad members involved include Pathirana, Hasaranga, Malinga and Thushara. Some were sidelined for the whole event, while others left mid-tournament.

Hasaranga suffered a left hamstring tear during Sri Lanka’s opening match. That injury happened in the game against Ireland on February 8.

Pathirana played three matches before being withdrawn from the competition. His franchises expect him to seek a medical clearance.

NOC process and fitness tests

SLC schedules fitness tests next week before granting NOC to any injured players. The board will evaluate recovery and fitness levels prior to issuing clearances.

The exact nature of the injuries to Malinga and Thushara has not been publicly detailed. Sri Lanka Cricket has not released full medical reports on those cases.

Franchises remain confident their contracted players will receive clearance from the board. Filmogaz.com contacted the Sri Lanka board for updates on NOC decisions and is awaiting a response.
